    — ANDREA S.

  • “[Meg] was the perfect partner to approach brand narratives in unconventional ways—whether we were creating persuasive social content or higher stakes media investments like partnerships with the New York Times and WIRED, to podcast scripts with Conan O’Brien, Stephen Dubner, Kara Swisher, and more. [...] On a human note I am thankful for her empathy, her voice and pursuit of diversity and inclusion in the organization and how it reflects in the work – from brief to execution.”

I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important.

Meglenska

I mainly translate literature, but I work with clients to build marketing strategies and design web pages, too. Even Oprah Daily and the NYT have praised my work! These days, I particularly enjoy translating mid-century Icelandic feminist modernists, who have not made it off of the Icelandic page and out into the world yet.

2012-present

Meglenska is the name of my one-woman consultancy, where I offer a range of services to clients of all sizes – from independent literary presses and startups to Fortune 500 companies – including translation (primarily literature), marketing/branding, and copywriting. I work with publishers, from the Big Five to indie presses, all over the world to spread ideas and perspectives.

2015-2018

In my four years in Marketing at NetApp, I embedded in teams across Marketing – including Product, Brand, ESG, and Partner – to build revenue, support our install base, and transform NetApp’s reputation. I developed deep technical knowledge across cloud storage, security, and other critical areas during my tenure.

Explore My Roles at NetApp

As a Fulbright Fellow to Iceland, I had the unique opportunity to focus on learning Icelandic and translating Icelandic literature for one year. I received two years of additional funding from the Icelandic Ministry of Culture and Education to advance my language skills. This period was critical in building my leadership and teamwork abilities.

My Editorial Assistant and Copy Editor roles at S&P Global were my first real-world challenges. I worked on the Wall Street Minute, often staying until after midnight to ensure that time-sensitive media releases went out. I had the privilege of learning from Chief Economists across North and Latin America. I developed technical knowledge of corporate finance and economics on-the-job. Oh, and I published a whopping 146 articles one month when I was the only editor in LatAm on duty.

In 2024, I was recruited to transform reputation of data engineering consultancy from “product reseller” to a “data leader” through strategic demand generation and sales enablement programs. Data Engineering was new to me, and I eagerly ate up all the knowledge I could get.
